International & German Competition
Films of all genres with a maximum length of 30 minutes and not older than two years can be submitted through Shortfilmdepot and Filmfreeway to our International Competition and German Competition as well as to the Junges Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg - Mo&Friese. We are also accepting submissions for the Triple Axel Competition which have to be shorter than three minutes and need to deal with the topic "Mission Impossible“. The Axel is one of the most difficult jumps in figure skating. And in our competition, it's a matter of getting a spin on a given theme in no more than three minutes. Whoever manages to do this goes into the race for the audience's prize and 1.000 € in a legendary short night.
The Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg awards prizes worth a total of 15.500 €. The Jury of the International Competition nominates one European film for the European Film Awards. Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg is a qualifying festival for the British BAFTA Awards as well as the BIFA (British Independent Film Awards).
