(Theresa George)

Organized Forgetting is a sensual 16mm experimental film in black and white, oscillating between positive and negative images and featuring precisely composed field recordings. One might describe it as a beautiful, timeless work, were it not for the fact that it explores the acutely threatened Pacific of the present day. An ocean scarred by coral bleaching, shipping noise, and deep-sea mining. An ocean that, in part, now exists only in museums. The film does not merely show us this fragile world – it makes it tangible. It addresses us not as detached observers, but as bodies that help to create its resonances and dissonances. And if »Listening« is this year’s festival motto, then its answer is: »Sounding.« (Theresa George)
