Ein altes Haus sinkt langsam zurück in dieselbe Erde, aus der es einst errichtet wurde. Als hätte es nie die unzähligen Menschen beim Pflügen, Säen und Ernten gesehen. Als hätte es nie ihre Gedichte
und Erzählungen gehört.
"Sortes" folgt den verbliebenen Einwohner:innen der Serra de Serpa im Süden Portugals durch den Kreislauf des Erntejahres. Begleitet von Versen einheimischer Dichter entsteht eine berührende Momentaufnahme, die die Kräfte der Zeit freilegt.
An old house slowly sinks back into the same earth from which it was once built. As if it had never seen the countless people ploughing, sowing and harvesting. As if it had never heard their poems
and stories.
"Sortes" follows the remaining inhabitants of the Serra de Serpa in southern Portugal through the cycle of the harvest year. Accompanied by verses from local poets, a touching portrait emerges that exposes the forces of time.

Ein Haufen runder fleischig-feuchter Wesen beschmiert sich gegenseitig genüsslich mit schleimigem Saft. Sie teilen sich ihre Welt mit lästigen kleinen Krabbelviechern, die sie eines Tages alle zermatschen. Doch dann beginnen die Wesen auszutrocknen.
A bunch of round, succulent and moist creatures smear each other contentedly with an oozy juice. They share their world with pesky little bugs, but one day, they squash them all. In response, the creatures start to run dry.

Es ist Sommer irgendwo in Deutschland und die Brüder Abudi (5) und Adam (7) vertreiben sich ihre Zeit draußen mit Zündeln. Andere Kinder kommen dazu. Gemeinsam entdecken sie die Elemente: Feuer, Wasser, Luft und Erde. Ein traumartiger Balanceakt - zwischen Flucht and Bleibe, Angriff, Verteidigung and Versöhnung.
It’s summer somewhere in Germany and the brothers Abudi (5) and Adam (7) spent their time outside playing with fire. Other kids from different backgrounds join them. Together they discover the elements: fire, water, air and earth. A dreamlike balancing act between escape routes and dwelling places, offense, defense and reconciliation.

Eine Reihe bizarrer Gestalten findet sich in scheinbar getrennten und von der Außenwelt abgeschotteten Kellerräumen wieder. Nur in Zitaten aus Endzeitfilmen kommunizierend verhandeln sie den pandemischen Ausnahmezustand. Das Video beschwört Angst, Einsamkeit, Krankheit, ebenso wie Bedrohungs- und Abwehrszenarien in einer Mischung aus Faszination und Schrecken.
Several bizarre creatures find themselves huddled away in squalid basements, in safe distance from the outside world. Speaking in selected quotes from doomsday films, they negotiate the pandemic state of affairs. The video evokes fear, loneliness, illness, as well as scenarios of threat and defence in a mixture of fascination and horror.
