The New Festival Centre Building H

At the end of last year’s festival, we said: »See you next year, new place, same festival«. After seven years at the Kolbenhof, we went on the lookout for a new centre. We had to search long and hard, but in the end, we found our new centre in the condensed haystack called Hamburg. At a place which hadn’t been marked on the map of Hamburgian festivals yet. It’s mundanely poetic name is ›Building H‹ and it is located at the grounds of the post at the Kaltenkircher Platz, to the north of the new middle of Altona. We are looking forward to the task of planning and building our festival at this place, and we are insanely excited about being the first to play at this location and we’re cordially inviting you all to come.

The amply dimensioned rooms and halls offer enough space for all our plans. In the festival centre with it its info counter and café, we will build the cinema ›Lampenlager‹, in which the Deframed Competition will screen its programmes, the Hamburg Competition will have its premiere and the special programme ›Disco‹ will be represented with one block. Furthermore, it will host the ardently loved very-late-night-trash-event ›Big Booze Bang IV‹ as well as the pan-European festival contest with the ›Q&A Karaoke‹.

Our open-air screenings will be located behind Building H: on Friday, the Three-Minute-Quickie competition and on Saturday the programme ›You Spin Me Round (But I Don’t Feel Like Dancing)‹.

As a special treat, the three-part installation ›Space Travel‹ with works by the Hamburgian artists Helena Wittmann/Nika Son and Paul Spengemann as well as by the Canadian film maker Alexandre Larose will take over one of the old extensive sorting-depots.

There can be no proper festival without a solid place for celebrations. This year’s festival club will host excesses and debaucheries under the label ›Post-Discotheque‹. And since we won’t pass up the opportunity for a pun: Let’s make the most of our post!

The festival centre Building H is located on the grounds of the post at Kaltenkircher Platz, accessible via the entrance at Augustenburger Straße / Kaltenkirchener Straße.

This project is supported with funds by the District of Altona.
