Musikproduzentin Maxi verliert sich zwischen hohem Leistungsdruck und negativen Selbstgesprächen. Ihre prekäre Situation als Freiberuflerin und ihr nicht vorhandenes Sozialleben heizen die Abwärtsspirale in den Burnout weiter an. Auf der Jagd nach ihren Träumen und den besten Self Care-Produkten erkennt Maxi, dass sie ihren inneren Dämon austreiben und Frieden mit ihrem inneren Kind schließen muss. Doch aus dem Hamsterrad auszusteigen, ist leichter gesagt als getan.
Stuck between high performance-pressure and negative self-talk we follow young music-producer Maxi´s path into burnout. The downward spiral is fueled by Maxi´s precarious situation as a freelancer and non-existing social life. While chasing her dreams and the most effective self-care products, Maxi realizes she needs to exorcize her inner cop and make peace with her inner child. But stepping off the hamster wheel is easier said than done.

Je mehr wir uns in der Konnektivitätsschleife befinden, desto durstiger sind wir nach Spiritualität und weisen ihr ein Zeitfenster zu. In dem Video führt die Künstlerin die Yoga-Ruheposition Shavasana (Toter Körper) aus, während Computer-Cursor aus ihren Körperhöhlen kommen und sich, begleitet von Chakra-Affirmationen, mit ihrer eigenen Spiritualität verbinden.
The more we are in the connectivity loop, the more thirsty we are for spirituality and assign it a time slot. In the video, the artist performs the yoga rest pose Shavasana (dead body pose) as computer cursors come out of her body cavities and connect to their own spirituality together with her chakra affirmations.

Im dunklen Morast eines nächtlichen Waldes gehen matt schimmernde Axolotl ihren lustvollen Spielen nach. Genüsslich wird sich aneinander gerieben und geknabbert. Als ein großer, zweibeiniger Waldbewohner vorbeikommt, verspeist er kurzerhand eines der kleinen Tiere. Ein ungewöhnliches Spiel beginnt, während über dem Wald der Morgen dämmert.
In the dark swamps of a nocturnal forest, a group of gleaming axolotls is in heat, nuzzling and nibbling one another’s limbs. Soon a much larger, two-legged forest-dweller encounters the lustful group and reaches down to gobble one of the small shimmering creatures. While dawn is slowly breaking above the forest, a cheerful game begins.

Auf der Grundlage von Daphne du Mauriers Kurzgeschichte "Die Vögel" und ihrer späteren filmischen Adaption (re-)inszeniert "Bird in Italian is Ucello" den Horror-Thriller. Ausgehend von einem Bericht über eine nie aufgeführte Theaterinszenierung von Mauriers Geschichte, die in einer psychiatrischen Klinik in Norditalien stattfinden sollte, kehrt Wielands Film die Rollen des Originals um: Die menschlichen Figuren werden zu Vögeln und die Vogel-Protagonisten zu Menschen.
Drawing upon Daphne du Maurier’s short story "The Birds", and its subsequent cinematic adaptation, "Bird in Italian is Uccello" (re)enacts a theatrical production of the horror-thriller. Working specifically with an account of a never performed theater production of Maurier’s story - one that was meant to be staged at a psychiatric hospital in northern Italy – Wieland's film inverts the original script’s roles: human characters become birds and the bird protagonists become humans.

Das Haus, in dem meine Mutter nie leben wollte, die psychische Krankheit meines Onkels, die meine Großeltern nie sehen wollten, der Atomkrieg, der nie kam. Sie sprechen vom Unverwirklichten. Sich sterilisieren zu lassen, sich das Leben zu nehmen, zusammenzupacken und zu gehen.
"The world is not always beautiful", my mother says.
My child wakes up. My parents smile at each other, and recount.
The house in which my mother never wanted to live in, my uncle’s mental illness, which my grandparents never wanted to face, the nuclear war that never arrived.
They speak of unrealized intentions. To be sterilized, to take one’s own life, to pack up and leave.
